I'm so excited to share Brittany's maternity studio session with y'all! Brittany was open to suggestions, so I finally got to get some ideas out of my brain and in front of the camera. We did a combo maternity studio session that incorporated two different kinds of floral portraits and a casual denim portrait. For the floral portraits, we did a classic baby's breath bouquet and then, per Brittany's request, one with more of a wild flower vibe. If you'd like to schedule a floral maternity portrait in the studio, I'm happy to provide the arrangement for you; or, if you have a special relationship with a local florist (say, the person who did your wedding), you can provide your own bouquet. For the denim portrait, we went with a causal Madewell vibe. (Speaking of which, I can't believe we have a Madewell store in downtown Greenville now!). I have a couple pairs of their perfect vintage jean in my client closet, and I think Brittany just sized up from her usual size; so, these weren't maternity jeans, and they didn't zip - but that was the point :) A white button down is timeless, so that was her choice for the top. I especially liked that the simplicity of the shirt let some of her sentimental jewelry take the spotlight. You could also wear your favorite lace bra or forego a top all together and use the floral arrangement for beautiful coverage.
I think it's so important to have maternity photos taken. Speaking from personal experience, even just a few months after your little one is born, it all seems like a dream. Did your body really change that much? Yes! Surely, this person couldn't have actually fit inside you? They did! I made a little album with my bump photos, just for myself. Some days during the post-partum journey are harder than others to reconcile with your new body. On those days, I found it so helpful to flip through my little book, marvel at what my body had accomplished, and be a bit kinder to myself. I hope a maternity portrait session can do the same for you.
